Country/Americana ~ songwriter

multi award-winning juno nominated recording artist

Country/Americana Multi Award-winning Songstress Tracy Bone was honoured with a JUNO-nominee for her country/pop influenced debut album No Lies (2010) to receiving “Songwriter of the Year” nods for her follow-up country album Woman of Red (2012). She continued to release song singles after a four-year personal healing hiatus. Bone has built a career defined by emotional depth, melodic strength backed by a fiery energetic confidence. More than a musician, she is a mentor, storyteller, and trailblazer.  A voice of strength, heritage, and revolution in contemporary music. Honest, intimate, and deeply rooted in Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) and omuskegowuk (swampy cree) identity and influence, Tracy’s songs transform her nearing 20 medicinally musical years and personal healing experiences into shared truth.

The beauty in the art of expression reminds us to recognize and honour our gifts/talents. Bone honours the gift of creativity through her travels across North America to connect with the youth through her musical workshops. She supports a brighter future through presentations to the youth.

MUSICAL ROOTS:

Influenced by the Mini Pop’s record her mother bought her for her 7th birthday, Tracy Bone wanted to be “one of them.”  Tracy’s interest in music became a passion for her at the age of nine. “Try outs” were held at the Sunday school she attended for the solo in the choir. “Cuts” were made in Canadian Idol fashion to a handful. Tracy’s teacher asked her if she was chosen to sing in the piano room with the others who made it past that round. She responded with a guilty pause knowing she was “cut” during that round...and said “yes.” Tracy walked into the piano room with “Jimney Crickett” on one shoulder and her aspirations on the other to audition for the next lead part in the choir. She sang and received the part. Tracy Bone does not endorse falsehoods...hence the title of her debut album "NO Lies"...hee hee.

Tracy grew up with the traditional country sounds of George Jones, Patsy Cline and both of her Grandmothers. Influenced by Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrissette, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Madonna and Michael Jackson along with plenty of 80’s rock, it wasn’t until she heard Faith Hill on the radio did Tracy feel the calling to return to her country music roots.

She was inspired to write her own songs after the complications in the birth of her youngest daughter.  Bone taught herself a few chords on guitar, grabbed a piece of paper, a red pen and wrote “The Air I Breathe” off of her debut CD “No Lies.”

A talent show win earned Tracy the opportunity to record one original song with full production at a professional studio. This lead to the recording of eight (8) self-penned and two (2) collaborative works, “No Lies - duet” and “Standards”. Other collaborative works include three (3) songs co-written with former Curb Records Nashville songwriter who recently took the position as Chief Creative Officer at Ole’ Music Publishing Nashville, Gilles Godard. Gilles co-wrote hit songs for Patti Loveless “That’s The Kind Of Mood I’m In” and Terri Clarks, “I Wanna Do It All.
